Arsenal have won for the first time in nine competitive matches. The team of interim coach Freddie Ljungberg defeated West Ham United 1-0 down 3-1 (0-1). The Gunners reached nine minutes for their three goals.
Angelo Ogbonna (38th) took Hammers in the lead, shortly before Mesut Özil awarded the best Arsenal chance in the first place. However, the management at West Ham was absolutely fine.
Only after the break did Arsenal's offensive start. The Gunners increased the pressure and started a remarkable run in nine minutes. First, Gabriel Martinelli compensated for the preparations of ex-Schalkes Sead Kolasinac (60). Nicolas Pepe (66th) scored the visitors in the lead before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (69th) followed with his eleventh goal of the season. Between 2: 1 and 3: 1 it was only 189 seconds.
The Gunners have 22 points on the table after 16 match days and are once again the focus of the Europa League ranks. Consequently, the relief was great at Özil. "Finally a reason for a laugh," the 31-year-old wrote on Twitter: "But there is still a lot of work ahead of us."
West Ham, on the other hand, are in the midst of the relegation battle after their seventh defeat from their last nine series matches.
