Leverkusen are elegantly and consistently committed to the European Cup at the start of the round, with the european cup trail set to return to the Champions League. Julian Baumgartlinger (36th) scored in front of 14,889 spectators with his first Bundesliga goal in two years to make it 0-3.

As expected, Foer Paderborn’s struggle for class preservation will be a mammoth task. Dennis Srbeny (51st) made it 1-3 before Kai Havertz (75th) provided a clear lead with his third goal of the season.

Kai Havertz shows significant increase in form

Leverkusen dragged some annoying legacy into the new year: Leon Bailey and Wendell sat out their locks from the round, winter access Exequiel Palacios (River Plate) a lock from Argentina. Nevertheless, the G’ste forced the SCP m’helos to play their game.

In advance, Bayer head of Rudi Vuller had stated that he was very confident to see “the old Kai Havertz again”.

The Bot national player in fact had a strong performance even before his hit, although he failed after only 120 seconds and an error by Luca Kilian free-standing to SCP goal-keeper Leopold Zingerle.

SC Paderborn engaged, but not without access

The strong running but technically limited Paderborners were concerned to stand on the feet of the Leverkusen creative players and to be poisonous.

Misslang died, it became dangerous – as before the 0:1: Moussa Diaby flanked the ball in the penalty area, Volland knocked in.

Or even before the 0:2: The highly talented Havertz ran a steep pass and served perfectly for Volland.

The haul allowed Bayer to control the game in go composure. Paderborn has hardly any idea in the construction.

Bayer wobbles, SCP sniffs at 2:3

At Srbeny, Norwich City’s ruckman, the ball didn’t arrive in the storm.

In addition, Havertz, Diaby and Karim Bellarabi were always able to play the shaky SCP defense in the three-man line behind Volland.

After the change of sides, Paderborn came back with a new momentum.

Srbeny took advantage of an error by tohreter Lukas Hradecky to make it 1-3, Christopher Antwi-Adjei even had the 2:3 on the fu shortly afterwards. Bayer lost access for a good quarter of an hour, but caught himself again.
