While Liverpool fc dominate satisfactorily dominate the Premier League, Bayern Munich will have to settle for third place in the Bundesliga. Ex-professional Paul Breitner still sees the two clubs on one level – especially with a view to the Konigsklasse.
“FC Bayern have everything in their squad to win the Champions League. Where is the difference to anyone else?” said Breitner in an interview with the Evening Times, adding: “The first eleven at Liverpool or at Manchester City are not 0.1 percent better than at FC Bayern. That’s a level.’
In the Champions League, the form of the day is finally decided. “And once, like Bayern in the past few years, you only bring 80 percent, then you’re gone,” said the 68-year-old.
Robert Lewandowski plays a crucial role at the moment. The Sturker is currently in outstanding form. For Breitner, this is no different.
“Robert Krieg denies otherwise. But he makes a few more goals out of certain situations this year. But that has nothing to do with his class. Two or three years ago, he was already one of the most horrible st’rmer in the world – and still is today,” the 1974 world champion swarmed.
Youngster Alphonso Davies also received a special praise from Breitner: “This is a déja vu to David Alaba. I recognise that one hundred per cent in Davies. You have the same situation when David Alaba gets a left defender, now again. This boy is great.”
Haaland can become a “giant or flop”
In the interview ‘U’, Breitner also commented on Borussia Dortmund’s newcomer Erling Haaland. “This can be a giant, but it can also be a flop,” said the fenffach German champion.
You’ll have to wait for the first ten games to make an initial judgment. “He is being traded as a greedy sturker talent. I’m excited about that. “I don’t care much about Dortmund,” Breitner said.
