by: Adam Smith

Timo Werner topped the Bundesliga goal list with his double-pack

Autumn champions RB Leipzig have improved further in the ruck round opener.

Against upstart Union Berlin, the team of coach Julian Nagelsmann won 3-1 (0:1) on Saturday night thanks to a significant improvement in performance in the second half and half-time of a double-pack by Timo Werner and extended the lead at the Tabspitzellene.

Werner National Player (51st/83rd) and Marcel Sabitzer (57th) ensured the 11th victory of the season for the Leipzigers, who were the slip of the first chaser Borussia Mönchengladbach. RB is now funf points ahead of the foals. Bayern Munich still have the chance to reduce the rack stand to RB to four Z’hler on Sunday. Werner already has 20 goals in his account and leads the Bundesliga goallist alone.

Union squanders an over-surprise coup in the 10th defeat in the Bundesliga. With 20 points, the Berliners, who had gone through Marius B’lter (10th) in Féhrung, still have all the possibilities.

Mood boycott of Union fans

As in the first round, the duel was accompanied by protests from the Berlin fans. Just two hours before kick-off, a self-announced “mourning march” by hundreds of fans from Leipzig’s main train station to the arena set in motion. They held Serge, Kreuze and a banner (“In Leipzig dies the fueball”) in the Héhe. In the stadium, the Union fans entered the Gosteblock only minutes before kick-off.

However, the K-penickers did not abgtother the self-imposed mood boycott in the first 15 minutes – and for good reason: B’lter completed a counter of the Goste exemplary-ltig.

Leipzig’s attacking machinia stutters at half-time

Undeserved he was the haul. Defending Union with its classic virtues ‘convinced and ‘u’ compact, was not to be seen from the usual RB offensive spectacle. Leipzig showed unusual voting errors, the Leipzig game was static, the attack around Patrik Schick and Werner did not unfold before the eyes of German coach Joachim Lew.

Even the large individual class of the Leipzigers flashed only sporadically. After successful dribbling, the opponents lacked ideas in the opponent’s penalty area, the p’sse went into the void or to the opponent, sometimes RB stood in his own way: When Lukas Klostermann wanted to push the ball into the goal, RB defense chief Dayot Upamecano for Union (39th).

Werner us Sabitzer get the turnaround

Leipzig are a little bit stuck in the Berlin H-lfte at the end of the first half. Above all, RB was dangerous on the right side. Several sharp entries from Nordi Mukiele, however, found no buyers. In addition, the strong Union-Tohr-ter Rafal Gikiewicz was a sure run-stop.

After the break,’t much changed. RB was looking for the Luncken in Union’s defense, the Goste lurking on counter. Leipzig’s Qualitet now paid. Werner proved in his hits why Nagelsmann and Bundestrainer Lew put on the goal- Sabitzer reacted fastest at the fuhrungstor after a corner.
