Joker Patrik Schick saved RB Leipzig a point and saved the table lead in a spectacular high-speed summit near Borussia Dortmund. At the end of a nerve-wracking exchange of punches with magical goals and gifts, the Czech did not eventually deserve the final score of 3: 3 (0: 2). RB has the best cards for the fall championship, BVB proved that he can still be expected in the title race.
"It was a great football match for all the spectators and a great result for us," Leipzig's transgaming.orgs manager Markus Krösche said on "Sky": "We are glad we got the point. It helps us quite a lot."
Julian Weigl (23) fired the Dortmund team in the lead on 45 minutes, but RB goalkeeper Peter Gulácsi helped a lot. Julian Brandt (34.) danced sensationally to 2: 0, Timo Werner (47./53.) But brought Leipzig back into play after bad mistakes by BVB keeper Roman Bürki and Brandt. Spissen is the first German to score 18 goals in 16 games since Gerd Müller in 1977.
Jadon Sancho (56th) scored Dortmund 3-2 in an exciting match. Substitutes Schick (78th) managed to equalize again.
BVB defender Hummels with a first chance
In their "six-point game" (Julian Nagelsmann), both teams put on the grass pretty much everything they have to offer in offensive power. The proven BVB triple storm from captain Marco Reus, Sancho and Thorgan Hazard fooled, Leipzig relied on the best attack in the league with Werner, Emil Forsberg and Yussuf Poulsen.
This game will reveal those who are ready for the title and who do not. The approaches were different: The Leipzig team tried it after six league wins in a row with a quiet structure and ball possession, relying on the counter and the Lightning's fast offensive players, who started immediately at changing moments.
However, the goals of goal scoring did not arise from high speed, but from standards. Mats Hummels, who as the central man in the three-way defensive chain, struck many long passes, was the first customer at Dortmund corner balls and directly twice very dangerous (3rd / 15th). BVB also avoided pushing through the outfielders. The Leipzig effort ended long ago in the BVB penalty area.
Bürki and Brandt with dropout – Werner on site
1-0 caused the sold out stadium to shake. Weigl's counterattacks created a good chance for Gulácsi on the left, but the keeper failed to score. Leipzig was undecided from now on, but got the first chance from BVB professional Brandt: Poulsen shot over the goal (30th).
Brandt's next brilliant stroke with a twist in the assumption, hooks around Dayot Upamecano and an unsustainable shot on the left side was a deep blow with lasting impact for the guests. For 10 minutes the leaders did not succeed, only Poulsen and Werner tore RB out of lethargy with a double chance (45 + 1).
At half-time it rained yarn, which may have favored 2-1: Bürki wanted to clear his head outside the penalty area, but the ball fell to Werner's puzzled feet. As a result, BVB wobbled, RB pushed for quick equalization – and again Brandt made a serious mistake. The scores stand at 2-2.
But only briefly until Sancho struck back immediately. The 80 200 spectators saw a spectacular spectacle with chances on both sides, BVB now had advantages again after their faltering minutes.
