Benjamin Henrich’s wre has almost returned to the Fueball Bundesliga this winter, especially RB Leipzig vying for the services of the defender. FC Bayern Munich was also a war. Now the 22-year-old explained why a transfer failure.
“Bayern is a big club, clearly one honours that, especially in view of the fact that I did not come here,” Henrichs told Sport Bild: “But the contact with Bayern was not concrete.”
Coach Hansi Flick is said to have a transfer with the Munchners. “I know Hansi Flick from the national team a bit, we also have to deal with each other in the youth field, for example at the U19- EM.”
The German record holder reportedly only wants to loan the former Leverkusen player until the end of the season – a deal that Henrichs face employer AS Monaco. A move to autumn champions RB Leipzig was much more likely until the very end.
Nagelsmann convinced Henrichs of the “RB philosophy”
The Saxons want the defenders 20 million euros fixed. Henrichs himself did very well to make the change: “There were good talks with Julian Nagelsmann and Markus Krésche, whom I still know from my time in Leverkusen, where he was assistant coach. Julian Nagelsmann quickly convinced me of the overall concept.”
The Leipzig coach has “quickly packed” especially with his style. During a phone call, Nagelsmann explained the “RB philosophy,” Henrichs added. “Nagelsmann is simply a young guy, the language of the players of my generation, speaks. It was right from the first moment.”
There was already contact between Leipzig and Henrichs last summer. However, the three-time national player said he “didn’t want to go into the details” because of “respect for Leipzig and especially Monaco.” The change has not gegleiste, point. And I’m not a player who makes problems.’
Rack return to the DFB team the cleared goal
Henrich’s stated goal is to return to the German national team as quickly as possible. His last lunder game is in the 2017 Confed Cup in Russia. “Dafar is the most important thing that I play regularly.”
Having played only a minor role in the team under former Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim, the last few weeks have given cause for hope. “Under our new coach, I’ve played three times from the start, he’s given me the confidence. That’s a great thing for me.”
