The Spanish men’s under-19 national football team will share with the combined France, Norway and Slovakia the group 5 of the first qualifying round for the 2022 European Championship, under a new format similar to the UEFA League of Nations.
The draw held on Tuesday in Nyon left the Spanish national team in group 5 of The League A. His opponents in the first qualifying round for the 2022 European Championships will be France, Norway and Slovakia.
UEFA will launch this new format in autumn 2020, with “four rounds of single-host mini-tournaments, with ascents and relegations, leading to the 2022 final stage in Slovakia”.
This new format replaces the current single-season ranking system.
In the first round, the 54 participants are divided into three Leagues: League A, with 20 teams; League B, with 16; and League C, with 18. The distribution has been done according to the ranking of coefficients.
