WAC fought a strong 2-2 against AS Roma on the final match day of Europa League group J, which hampered the group victory. The highlights of the game.
First, however, Andreas Kofler put Roma superstar Edin Dzeko within sixteen. In the ensuing penalty, Diego Perotti (7th place) sent the WAC keeper in the wrong corner and scored the early goal for the Romans. The Carinthian response was not long in coming. Only three minutes later Niangbo won with a nice combination on the left side and led the ball flat in the middle. This eventually tripped from Florence's (10/ET) stage to his own goal.
However, the Romans followed up and returned to leadership. Diawara sent Perotti down with a dream pass, which in turn left the ball to Dzeko (19.), who just had to put it in. Wolfsbergers came back again. After a cross from Michael Lindl, Shon Weissman scored with a beautiful flying header to equalize 2-2.
Europa League: Group J – The table
For WAC, it was nothing more, since the last place in the table was fixed. But they managed a strong 2-2 in Rome and said goodbye to the Europa League. At the same time, Gladbach lost to Basaksehir at home and is therefore also eliminated.
