Jurgen Klopp expressed his admiration for world footballer Megan Rapinoe and supported his political views. The Liverpool coach also commented on the legendary return to the Champions League against FC Barcelona.
“I met her for the first time that night and I loved her,” Klopp said. Illustrated transgaming.orgs on the match with Rapinoe at the FIFA Football Awards gala in September, during which Rapinoe was named best player and Klopp as best coach.
Rapinoe, who won the World Cup with the United States last summer and took the lead in the final against Sweden with a converted foul, could only give that eulogy and admitted to addressing him personally: “I was very much looking forward to meeting him, so I just went to him. He is so warm and sincere. I think everyone would say that about Jurgen Klopp.”
Klopp also announced at the awards ceremony that he would join Rapinoe and many other footballers such as Serge Gnabry, Mats Hummels and Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann in supporting the Common Goal project, in which one percent of the proceeds are donated to charity.
Klopp also supports the political views of Rapinoe, who is seen as a staunch opponent of US President Donald Trump (“Your message is to exclude people”) and to defend the rights of the LGBTQ movement: “It is very important that we have people like her. I share 100 percent of his opinion on Donald Trump. It’s easy, but you also have to dare to do it in public when you win something.
“Populists like Trump and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson have historically proven that they are never the right solution. They tell people what they want to hear. I am aware of many of the problems we have, and like anyone who has half a brain, I am interested in solving them. But we should do it together.”

Klopp, who has been on the Reds coaching bench since October 8, 2015 and is clearly on his way to the FIRST CFL championship since 1990 with 61 points in 21 games, has extended his contract at Anfield Road until 2024 in December. He enjoys great esteem among his players, even beyond his football knowledge.
“Most people are directly involved in business, but we just talked about our lives. And we still do it today,” recalls midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, the day he signed for Liverpool and visited his new coach’s home.
Klopp celebrated his greatest success so far in his tenure with the Reds last June when he won the Champions League. On the way came the legendary comeback against FC Barcelona. After a 0-3 defeat at the Camp Nou, Liverpool won 4-0 at home, despite the absence of Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
How did Klopp prepare his players for this gigantic task? I said two things to the guys. First of all, it’s impossible, but because you are, we have a chance.” And: “I want everyone to close their eyes for ten to 15 seconds and remember the best game he’s ever played. That’s what we have to play today. And that’s what they did. This is one of the greatest football stories of all time.
