Sergio Agaero’s Sergio Agaero double did not end the 49th anniversary of English champions Manchester City with manager Pep Guardiola’s goal in the 90th minute to give the Citizens a 2-2 (0-1) victory over the underdogs Crystal Palace.

The gap with league leaders Liverpool is 13 points for ManCity, with coach Jurgen Klopp Reds having home rights in a duel with record holders Manchester United on Sunday and can extend their lead. Bayern Munich’s next champions, Chelsea, are already 22 points behind the Reds after a 0-1 draw (0-0) at Newcastle United thanks to Isaac Hayden’s late goal (90.-4).

Argentina’s Agaero (82nd/87th) had turned an 0-1 deficit into a 2-1 lead for the defending champion with his late double-pack. Ex-Frankfurter Cenk Tosun (39th) led the guests.

Star team manager Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, has been waiting for a win with Tottenham Hotspur for four games. On the 23rd day of the Premier League, Spurs could not go beyond a goalless draw at Watford and were lucky not to leave the field losing.

In the 70th minute, Troy Deeney of Watford scored on a penalty for Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga. Jan Vertonghen had touched the ball with his hand in the penalty area. More recently, Tottenham had lost twice in a row and lost the connection to the best teams. Watford remained unbeaten for the sixth game in a row.
