Premier League leaders Liverpool have further expanded their lead over Manchester City. After the 2-1 (2-0) win against Brighton & Hove Albion, the unbeaten team of coach Jürgen Klopp is now eleven points ahead of the defending champion, who had previously failed to make more than a draw in Newcastle.
For Liverpool's center defender, Virgil van Dijk scored both goals with his head (18th minute, 24th). This advantage was needed in the second half because goalkeeper Alisson Becker saw the red card for a handball off the penalty area (76th) and Lewis Dunk scored for the underdog to connect (79th). Another time, Brighton & Hove couldn't get past Liverpool goalkeeper Adrián.
After 13 wins in 14 season matches, the Red now has 40 points.

Newcastle United 2-2 Manchester City (1-1)
While Liverpool are almost lonely at the top of the table, Manchester City are gradually losing contact. City lost points in Newcastle after losing to Liverpool three weeks ago.
Raheem Sterling put the Pep Guardiola team in the lead (22nd), but just minutes later, Frankfurt's loan equalized Jetro Willems (25th). The second tour of Kevin De Bruyne (82nd) did not last until the final whistle because Jonjo Shelvey equalized for the Magpies (88th).
