The German Fueball Ambassador 2019, Jürgen Klopp, is honoring the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar, his award non officially overhanded. Roland Bischof, initiator of the football ambassador idea, met the successful coach in Doha.

“I’ve been to Qatar 70 times and have been working around the country for 14 years – it’s more like finding an oasis of peace in Jergen’s busy schedule than in Europe,” he smiles.

The Liverpool manager was already recognised as a German football ambassador before his appointment as world coach, but could only watch the honour swearing-in by video as he joined Liverpool FC in the hot phase of the season in May. League and the Champions League, which he then also won.

So Jürgen Klopp and Roland Bischof non-in Doha agreed and were able to pass the official ‘bergabe. The prize is awarded to the appearance of German fu-ballpers abroad and their contribution to the positive image of Germany in the world.

Klopp, who now enjoys sympathies around the globe, is well aware of his role model and the resulting responsibility. Even at liverpool, he said he was also too reluctant to try to get the role done.

Prize money goes to a SedAfrican project “Joy is Round”

At the ‘bergabe in Qatar, he thanked himself with the words: “Thank you again for the award. I will also present Germany in the best possible way.”

The prize money associated with the award always goes to a social project. Klopp, who is in charge of the Hout Bay United Football Community in S’dafrika, which also organises the “Joy is Round” project, which he also knows and has visited, was particularly pleased with this.

This took place a few weeks ago at the German Embassy in Pretoria, S’dafrika at the invitation of the German Ambassador Dr. Martin Sch-fer, who is also a jury member in the German Fueball Ambassador e.V.

The other awards this year will go to Marc-André ter Stegen from FC Barcelona (Audience Award) and Spain legend Bernd Schuster (Honorary Award).

Bishop spéter said goodbye: “I am pleased to see how the family of football ambassadors continues to grow and is now enriched by a very special character.”
