Kylian Mbappé and Neymar came to PSG in the same trade, but the French player never wanted to put the Brazilian star in the shadows. That’s what he told France-Football.
A year after signing for Paris Saint-Germain, Kylian Mbappé returned to the capital club as world champion and best young player at the World Cup, where Neymar Jr was coming out of a disastrous Individual World Cup. Inevitably, rumours circulated about the French striker’s desire to become PSG’s real No. 1 at the expense of the Brazilian player, he bought 222ME and that he had come to Paris for this. But in an interview with the weekly France-Football, Kylian Mbappé strongly denied attempting to reverse the roles.
For the former Monaco player, if he really explained himself to Neymar on his return from Russia, it was to make it clear that he never wanted to put him in his shadow. « When I arrived in Paris, there was no debate. He (Neymar) the superstar, whom He had come to a little to support, to help. He gets hurt, he misses his World Cup and I win it. And then start coming out stories about our supposed rivalry, about my willingness to take its place. I was surprised to hear all this. When I returned to Camp des Loges in August 2018, the first thing I did was grab “Ney” and say, “You may have missed the World Cup… And good for us. But here, don’t worry, I won’t walk on your flower beds. I’m going to “play” Pie ballon d’Or France this year because you’re not in the race, but I assure you I don’t want to take your place, you can keep it. I’m always there to help you.”Kylian Mbappé, who did not win the Ballon d’Or and whose excellent coexistence with the Brazilian star of PSG has been clearly evident since the beginning of this season. So everything goes well in the best of worlds for the two stars of the capital club.
