Renaud Emond, the Belgian attitude - FRENCH FOOTBALL 1

Renaud Emond arrives at FC Nantes and in Ligue 1 Conforama to shine and cross a line. Like other Belgians before him.

FC Nantes’ arrival by striker Renaud Emond confirms that Belgian players have the odds in a Ligue 1 Conforama that includes Thomas Meunier (PSG), Jason Denayer (OL) and Matz Sels (RCSA) in their ranks this season. Three elements that also remind us that the French championship is a beautiful field of expression for Belgians who want to play for the national team as recruiters. « I wanted to try my luck at Ligue 1 Conforama and see if I had the level. I’m ambitious, if I score goals here, I could have my chance in the national team! », said Thursday during his presentation. « I wanted to spend a paler, it has been several years that I scored more than 15 goals in Belgium. »

The famous Belgians of the Ligue 1 Conforama

Armed with a strong ambition, many Red Devils have already marked the history of Ligue 1 Conforama in the past, not even mentioning those who play there this season. The most recent is undoubtedly Eden Hazard, trained in LOSC. Before him, there were Raymond Goethals, head of the great OM in the early 1990s (double champion of France and winner of the UEFA Champions League), but also in the field the rank and archive leader Enzo Scifo (Girondins of Bordeaux, AJ Auxerre and AS Monaco) who spent seven seasons in France with a Ligue 1 title with the club. So, Ligue 1 Conforama has not forgotten, nor the killing of international Danny Boffin on the left flank of the Grenats, especially during the 1997/98 season with a 2E place for FC Metz, nor the impact of Eric Deflandre on lyon’s rear in the early seven. Daniel van Buyten, Marc Wilmots, Philippe Leonard, Michy Batshuayi and Eric Gerets also remain in the memory of Ligue 1 Conforama fans. In addition to Eden Hazard, LOSC has released Belgian talent from its training center, along with Divock Origi, Gianni Bruno and Kevin Mirallas and AS Monaco – who still had Youri Tielemans on their team – with Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco.

Nantes: the myth of Vercauteren

On the side of FC Nantes, Franky Vercauteren is the most famous of the Belgians with three seasons on the banks of the Erdre between 1987 and 1990. At the time, he was the best player in his country who reached the age of 30. After him, Luigi Pieroni, Mohamed Diallo, and more recently Guillaume Gillet, Yassine El Ghanassy, in addition to the other two currently at the club – Joris Kayembe and Anthony Limbombe – also wear the yellow robe.
