Roord gives Holland a suffered win over New Zealand - SPANISH FOOTBALL 1

Holland suffered, but ended up taking all three points with a goal over Roord’s horn, that after coming off the bench showed his hunger face-to-door. The Dutch, who had a hard time beating the New Zealanders, put the icing on a very even match with their goal, in which New Zealand was able to surprise. Group E takes the much-fought lead between Canada and the Netherlands.

The ‘oranje’ showed great superiority in the first half, although New Zealand showed that its World Cup qualification was no coincidence. The Dutch, tucked away by a large legion of followers as if playing as locals in their country, started with more impetus than their rival, which through timid arrivals generated quality attacks, with great danger. Aware of this, the ‘orange lionesses’ exerted intense, very high pressure, which made it right to get the ball out of the oceans. Holland felt comfortable pressing and recovering fast. While New Zealand failed to claim possession and merely stayed on hold, with physical wear and tear that could take its toll in the second half.

Thus, the first half left clear occasions in both areas. Barca’s player, Lieke Martens, was very active, eager to score. The blue-winged forehand, in combination with Van de Sanden and Miedema, sought tirelessly the first goal of his national team, for which she already scored the first target of a Dutchwoman in the history of the Women’s Worlds. In the opposite area, the clearest came from Chance’s boots, with a shot to the crossbar, and White, who almost surprises the Dutch finish with a distant shot.

After the break, the match took a turn. The equality of the score moved to the pitch. New Zealand showed more air and courage to a Holland that showed the inaccuracies of the anxiety of wanting to score, of the nerves of a debut. The second half gave prominence to the two goalkeepers. Both Erin Nayer and Sari Van Veenendaal were decisive for their teams with merit interventions. The Dutchwoman supported her team when defensive problems began, with big stops.

Holland could not find spaces or good combination among its players. While in each loss, so-known as ‘kiwis’ took advantage to increcate the Van Veenendaal area. The forces matched, leaving the match inclined to the team that managed to find the success in the continuous arrivals at the door. The Netherlands besieged new Zealanders in the final stretch, who with a strong defense withheld the type. There was no one to break lines between the Dutch. None of his stars, neither Miedema nor Lieke Martens, was right. But, Sarina Wiegman moved the bench, pulled Roord for the final stretch and hit, since the player caught a ball in the area and sent it head first to the back of the net. Very suffered triumph for Holland, which keeps Canada pulsed in the lead in Group E.
