Champions League – Power ranking for round 16: Bayern, City and Barca are just waiting
1/33
The round of 16 in the Champions League draws in Nyon on Monday: with Bayern, Dortmund and Leipzig three Bundesliga teams are still in the race. But on top is a team from England. Here is the power ranking before the knockout phase.
2/33
Rank 16: Atalanta Bergamo – 2nd place in Group C (7 points, 8:12 goals) – Possible opponents: PSG, FC Bayern, FC Liverpool, FC Barcelona, RB Leipzig, FC Valencia.
3/33
The only real surprise team in the CL round of 16 is the big outsider. Attacking Atalanta with the striking Muriel and Zapata is extremely dangerous, but defensively vulnerable.
4/33
15th place: Valencia CF – 1st place in Group H (11 points, 9: 7 goals) – Possible opponents: Tottenham Hotspur, Atalanta Bergamo, SSC Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Olympique Lyon.
5/33
Valencia is by no means an outstanding season. In the Primera division, the club ranks top in the middle of the table, in CL it trotted into the round of 16 at the expense of Ajax. The weak point is the vulnerable defensive.
6/33
14th place: Olympique Lyon – 2nd place in Group G (8 points, 9: 8 goals) – Possible opponents: FC Bayern, Manchester City, Juventus Torino, FC Liverpool, FC Barcelona, RB Leipzig, FC Valencia.
7/33
In Ligue Lyon has already allowed the top team to hurry – especially in the matches against the other top teams there has been nothing to get for Lyon so far. On the offensive, much depends on the daily form of Depay and Dembele.
8/33
13th place: SSC Napoli – 2nd place in Group E (12 points, 11: 4 goals) – Possible opponents: Paris Saint-Germain, FC Bayern, Manchester City, Liverpool FC, FC Barcelona, RB Leipzig, FC Valencia .
9/33
Just after Napoli reached the CL round at 16, the club left Ancelotti. There are said to have been differences between the coach and the team. The first game under the successor Gattuso was lost to Parma 1-2.
10/33
12th place: Tottenham Hotspur – 2nd place in Group B (10 points, 18:14 goals) – Possible opponents: PSG, Juventus Torino, FC Barcelona, RB Leipzig, FC Valencia.
11/33
Coach Pochettino was celebrated last season, but was fired after a poor start to the season. Things go better with the sequel Mourinho. Bayern's endurance test was lost, as was the top PL game against United
12/33
11th place: Chelsea FC – 2nd place in Group H (11 points, 11: 9 goals) – Possible opponents: PSG, Bayern Munich, Juventus Torino, FC Barcelona, RB Leipzig, FC Valencia.
13/33
Trainer Lampard relies on many young talents, which inevitably leads to fluctuations in form. After a steady fall, Chelsea is currently in crisis, losing four of the last five PL matches. There is still time for it to get serious in February.
14/33
10th place: RB Leipzig – 1st place in Group G (11 points, 10: 8 goals) – Possible opponents: Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, Atalanta Bergamo, Atletico Madrid, SSC Napoli, Chelsea FC.
15/33
After six wins in a row since that game day, Buli led and also qualified early for the CL Round of 16 – but this is new territory for the young club. Werner is in brilliant form: 16 goals in 15 Buli matches.
16/33
9th place: Borussia Dortmund – 2nd place in Group F (10 points, 8: 8 goals) – Possible opponents: PSG, Manchester City, Juventus Torino, FC Liverpool, FC Barcelona, FC Valencia.
17/33
In late November, coach Favre was on the verge of being out, but after a system change to 3-4-3 and four competing wins in a row, Dortmund is back on the field. But what has to be said: The last opponents were not really touchstones.
18/33
8th place: Atletico Madrid – 2nd place in Group D (10 points, 8: 5 goals) – Possible opponents: PSG, FC Bayern, Manchester City, Liverpool FC, RB Leipzig.
19/33
Also this season, Atletico is an extremely uncomfortable opponent to play on, especially defensively convinced of the team. Simeone managed to form a quick concert group even after Griezmann left.
20/33
7th place: Real Madrid – 2nd place in Group A (11 points, 14: 8 goals) – Possible opponents: FC Bayern, Manchester City, Juventus Torino, Liverpool FC, RB Leipzig.
21/33
In the Primera Division, Real has a duel with the eternal rival Barca, in the CL group stage it was just enough to take second place behind PSG. Real recently celebrated three competitive wins in a row. Much depends on top scorer Benzema in the front.
22/33
6th place: FC Bayern Munich – 1st place in Group B (24 points, 24: 5 goals) – Possible opponents: Real Madrid, Atalanta Bergamo, Atletico Madrid, SSC Napoli, Olympique Lyon, FC Chelsea.
23/33
Things have been going better at FC Bayern since switching from coach from Kovac to Flick: The team is defensively more stable and is playing more cautiously offensively. At the moment, it looks like King Transfer Coutinho is also coming into shape.
24/33
5th place: Manchester City – 1st place in Group C (14 points, 16: 4 goals) – Possible opponents: Real Madrid, Atalanta Bergamo, Atletico Madrid, SSC Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Olympique Lyon.
25/33
After City failed last in the PL, there was a power demonstration against Arsenal this weekend. Liverpool are 14 points behind. The almost lost title race ensures full concentration on the CL ambitions.
26/33
4th place: FC Barcelona – 1st place in Group F (14 points, 9: 4 goals) – Possible opponents: Tottenham Hotspur, Atalanta Bergamo, SSC Napoli, Olympique Lyon, FC Chelsea.
27/33
After a somewhat bumpy start to the season, Barcelona got better and better. After seven wins in a row across competitions (including a B-eleven against Inter), there was another point loss this weekend (2-2 in San Sebastian).
28/33
3rd place: Paris Saint-Germain – 1st place in Group A (16 points, 17: 2 goals) – Possible opponents: Tottenham Hotspur, Atalanta Bergamo, Atletico Madrid, SSC Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, FC Chelsea.
29/33
Everything is as usual on PSG: In Ligue 1 at home, the Parisians march in the top, but the really challenging opponents are missing. There was one in the CL group stage with Real – and it was put in its place
30/33
2nd place: Juventus Torino – 1st place in Group D (16 points, 12: 4 goals) – Possible opponents: Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Olympique Lyon, Chelsea FC.
31/33
In the league, Juventus has an exciting duel with Inter. After losing two points in a row, it was another exclamation mark with a 3-1 win over Udinese this weekend. CL expert Ronaldo has doubled the net.
32/33
1st place: Liverpool FC – 1st place in Group E (13 points, 13: 8 goals) – Possible opponents: Real Madrid, Atalanta Bergamo, Atletico Madrid, SSC Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Olympique Lyon.
33/33
Liverpool's defending champion seems unstoppable at the moment. In the Premier League, the lead over the other Leicester is already ten points, in CL Klopp's team finally won the decisive group game in Salzburg with confidence.
