Preparing for the 2022 World Cup to be held in Qatar, the pace of work in the Iconic Lusail Stadium follows quickly, where both the opening and the final match will take place, as well, apart from both matches, Lusail will host matches that from different phases.
Specifically on the inside of the facility, they are advancing according to the planned schedule, as the Superior Delivery and Legacy Committee, in charge of the projects and initiatives for the World Cup, plans to have all 8 championship stadiums ready at least one year before the start of the World Cup, bearing in mind that the initial match will be held on 21 November 2022.
It is worth mentioning that the capacity of the stadium will fit 80 thousand spectators, the highest capacity of all of these of the world stadiums in Qatar. Speaking of its design, the stadium houses a mix between ancient and modern Islamic architecture. Its facade is adorned by the Arabic style designed in a creative way that allows the sun’s rays to enter the interior in an impressive way.
As for the city of Lusail, as founder Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani lived there, at the beginning of the last century, for Qataris the city enjoys special recognition. It was he who built the modern nation where social and human development topped the state’s priorities.
The city itself is a new, modern city, and is being built following the most advanced models. Simultaneously with the history of Qatar and the Middle East, Lusail Stadium is a showing the country’s enthusiasm to share Arab culture with the whole world.
So far, Khalifa International and Al Janoub stadiums were inaugurated. Both have already hosted matches, especially the first. On the other hand, to take advantage of its cooling system, Al Janoub will receive more than one match during the first five weeks of the Qatari League which will begin on August 21.
